Reunions;

Title: Reunions
Character(s) or Pairing(s): Ruby and Hiro and Ruby/Hiro, naturally
Rating: PG-13ish
Warnings: rwby typical violence
Summary: It wasn't a typical reunion--but then, atypical reunions suited them just fine.

Happy birthday, Ty! I'M SLOW but even so, I had to do something for your birthday. You've been a wonderful friend and RP partner, so thanks for everything so far! I hope that you had a great one, and this year treats you well in general; you deserve it! Thank you for being you, and never doubt that you are just truly wonderful and fantastic.

It was far from what one would call a serendipitous meeting.

One second, Ruby was battling Grimm on her lonesome, a single scratch down her cheek, hair unkempt and windblown--and the next, she wasn't alone.

Which, honestly, was serendipitous on its own, if one wasn't trying to make things romantic.

Because while she wasn't despairing yet, there was no denying that the situation was looking rather tight, and Ruby really shouldn't have gone so far ahead of Jaune and the others, except here she was now, surrounded by Grimm with only Crescent Rose beside her--

And then there was a boy, and a robot.

Her eyes widened as he appeared as if from nowhere (from a portal, he'd tell her later, a portal of his own devising), and then Baymax and Hiro were there, and...the rest was automatic. Falling into place, fighting side-by-side with Hiro...that was natural. It was so natural, and Ruby was elated.

Even if run-down towns filled with Grimm really weren't the best places for reunions.

But they did it, together. They took out the Grimm in the way, and Hiro, wild-eyed and wild-haired (and not having expected a battle immediately after arriving) met Ruby's eyes with a grin that was equal parts happy and sheepish, and Ruby beamed in response and then they were together, arms around each other, lips meeting.

It wasn't romantic--but it didn't need to be.

Because then Ruby was pulling away, and while there were a thousand questions she could ask--how he did it, what he was doing, whether he was going to stay...

There was only one she ended up asking, arms still around him.

"What took you so long?"

And Hiro grinned, his trademark cocky and warmed expression, and responded, "Sorry I'm late", and from then on, it was natural.

(And when Jaune and Nora and Ren caught up, there were five thousand explanations to be made, but Ruby was still happy, and she didn't let go of Hiro's hand at any point as they explained.)
