The train was full of luxuries, but waiting was agonizing even so--waiting and watching Barnham's shoulders slump more and more, and knowing that she could be there at his back to help him stand straight.
enflame
The first time he watched her properly use her abilities as the Purple Lightning, she ended up zapping an Orbal Generator and sending it alight; as it exploded, Barnham looked at her with new appreciation (and perhaps a little bit of wariness, because honestly, that was something else).
huge
The size difference was enough that when Barnham scooped Sara into his arms, there wasn't much she could do but squirm, protesting with a red face.
stake
Now, it didn't matter how high the stakes were; Sara had someone she trusted at her side, and together, they could handle anything that came their way.
stir
It warmed Sara's heart that so long as she was there by his side, Barnham no longer stirred in his sleep, and was no longer tormented by nightmares.
rigid
His rigidness had melded away, into a far more endearing general awkwardness and caution--and Sara still tugged him into the bar for further drinking, because there was still more softening to be done, she felt.
arouse
Sara knew full well the effect that she could have on people--especially on Barnham, when she pressed up against him and murmured words into his ear...but she thought it was rather unfair how, the more used to things he got, the more he was able to turn the tables on her as well (not that really, she could complain that much).
allow
Every time someone spoke to Barnham about Sara, about her thrill-seeking habits, strange capabilities and unusual personality, Barnham just looked fond and shook his head and pointed out that Sara was her own person, and it had nothing to do with what he himself allowed--and it reminded her every single time why she cared so much for him.
Severa was the sort of fiercely independent girl who could never back down and never surrender--which is why Lucina was bemused when she ducked her head, fiercely blushing, but held onto Lucina's hand anyway after the ghost story, because she'd never thought her friend to be scared of something so intangible.
(But it was endearing anyway.)
invite
Ylisse was saved, the world was saved, and the first order of business was a political ball; Lucina knew her gestures mattered politically--but also didn't, because she was not the Exalt of this world, and so she extended her hand to Severa fearlessly for that first dance.
unkempt
Seeing Severa before she was able to tame her hair was something that, without fail, ended with Severa spitting embarrassed insults--but Lucina enjoyed it every time anyway, for how honest it was.
brooch
Much like Lucina's tiara, Severa's brooch was a gift from parents long gone, with meaning far greater than its actual worth, and to her own shame, Lucina hadn't noticed Severa had sold it to fund their ragtag army's endless battles until it was far too late.
consider
Lucina's consideration extended to everyone--those "beneath" her station, her peers, her friends, her family...and Severa admired it, even as she knew that that poise was something she couldn't emulate.
rose
Severa's face blushed the same color as the rose tucked behind her ear, and Lucina thought that maybe, just maybe, some of those suggestions from Inigo hadn't been so bad.
(Some of them.)
lure
They were, the two of them together, a lure for trouble, even with peace settling about the land, but they always flashed each other faintly amused looks, Severa's grin savage, as they faced the poor bandits on that had thought two young women wandering alone would be easy pickings.
vivacious
They were only truly vivacious when they took their first steps into their new lives after the war had been won--there was nothing holding them back, and hand in hand, they could go wherever they so pleased.
It wasn't vengeance, or anger, or anything of the sort that guided Akira's steps into the Abyss of Time and towards that ever-present door that had called back Minato's soul--this time, it was love, and he was all the stronger for it.
faint
One thing Akira didn't expect was for his boyfriend to have a particular weakness to the sun and heat--and yet their beach day ended with Minato's head pillowed in his lap under their umbrella, a flush to his face as Akira brushed his bangs from his forehead and amusedly offered him water.
guard
It was the space of a moment, an attack launched by a Shadow from behind, and Minato launching himself forward without a second thought to cover Akira's weakness--after, cradling him in his arms, Akira huffed but honestly couldn't find fault in him...not after he'd done the same for Minato before.
bloom
Minato's curiosity about his part-time jobs was always endearing, but Akira deflected some of it even so...because it was a lot more fun to surprise Minato with a bouquet of flowers from the flower shop, watching his surprised expression over the blooms.
alarm
The alarm went off, Akira's arm reached out to turn it off with a grumble, and forgot Minato was pressed up against his side until his arm instead smacked into his boyfriend's face and got a startled squawk in return.
apology
Their apologies always began with quiet, sheepish words--and always ended tumbled on the bed, lips pressed together to soothe away whatever mistakes they'd made to cause the hurt in the first place.
heroes
It was one of those ridiculous class assignments, tedious busywork to fill up their day--but still Minato's lips quirked into a faint smile at the prompt, and it was all too easy to describe black hair and a brave smirk when asked about his heroes.
cuddly
For being so strangely standoffish sometimes, Minato was cuddly; he curled as close as he could to Akira whenever possible, and there was something incredibly warming about having Minato's head tucked close under his chin, arms wrapped around him, and the knowledge that to anyone else, Minato would just be requesting personal space.
ambition
Akira's ambitions were high, even after he was finished being a Phantom Thief, and Minato loved to watch him soar; he could always look forward to Akira's successes, because absolutely nothing could keep him down for long.
enjoy
The true enjoyment, though, of their relationship was in the simple things--in the gentleness that Minato looked at Akira with, the teasing comments they batted at each other, Akira's warmth and the passion in his own smile--things that they could always count on receiving from each other, no matter what was to come.
It was an incredible, profound feeling, watching her own stomach swell and grow, knowing with quiet fascination that a small human being was taking form them--and even more so when Seliph crouched before her, gently resting one hand on the round of her belly, staring up at her with plain, pure adoration.
planner
The wedding planner had been exuberant to have been chosen, but also terrified--until she realized that both Seliph and Laura were far too down-to-earth to ever get upset over wedding choices, and then the task seemed far too easy for how important it was.
(Until she met Laura's classmates, anyway.)
fumbling
They fumbled their way through all of their firsts--first nights of passion, first meetings with others, first introductions to the people they cared about--
And first confession, first proposal, and first whispered declaration of "I wish to be by your side--forever."
antsy
Laura was not the sort to ever be put out by the things many would be; when Seliph was busy with army matters, she kept herself busy, honing her skills and focusing on her swordplay--but when Seliph returned to many of his army nursing bruises and bruised pride, he quirked an eyebrow at Laura and knew her well enough to know that she had been antsy nonetheless.
hometown
When they returned to Seliph's hometown, it was quaint, small and simple--not the place of his heritage, but the place he'd been raised--and seeing the blinding happiness on his face as he spoke with the children of the village, Laura felt herself fall in love all over again.
blindness
At first, Laura had wondered if perhaps Seliph was simply blind to all of her faults, to the way that she would never make for a particularly feminine wife--but it was with smoke in the air and both of them coughing from the way Laura had destroyed the stove that Seliph started to laugh, tugging her into his arms, and she knew full well then that he'd never been blind to any of them... he simply loved her anyway.
timid
Seliph had never been timid, per se, though Laura knew that he'd been lacking in confidence in many ways; however, watching him lift his chin as he was crowned, shoulders thrown back and back straight, Laura was proud of just how far he had come.
confidential
"Ah, Laura, now is--are you certain?" Seliph gasped out, face flushing as Laura tugged him close; she silenced him with a kiss and murmured, hoarsely and entirely willingly, "Nobody has to know."
wrong
Traveling home was always a joy for Laura, and that would never change--but Seliph had not been able to come, stuck handling matters of state as he was, and for her, it was the first moment she'd ever felt any sense of wrongness in her own home, to not have him by her side.
grade
It was while dripping, sword bloodied from the monster that had been rampaging near down in hand, and chest heaving from lack of air that Seliph stood before Victor--and it was Victor who nodded to him, and stated with a twinkle in his eye, "I suppose you pass."
and, as promised:
jejune
It was undeniably their favorite thing to enjoy together--the days when nothing would bother them, when nothing was exciting or spectacular, and when they could simply spend their time together, hand in hand and strolling along together, and knowing that so long as nothing exciting was happening, nothing would interrupt them, either.
